Important! If your documents were issued in the State of Illinois, you can only receive an apostille from the State of Illinois. It’s important to check, before you apply for a California Apostille, what the destination country requires regarding document specification and translation.  Generally speaking, all documents submitted for apostille service in the State of Illinois must meet these apostille requirements:

  • Vital records, obtained through the office of vital records, must be issued within the last 5 years and certified with a hand signature.
  • Birth certificates, certificates of death, or marriage certificates that bear the seal and signature do not require notarizations.
  • Education records and documents such certificates, diplomas , degrees and transcripts should be signed and authorized copies obtained from the office of the school registrar.
  • Corporate records and documents must be hand-signed certified (pen in hand) photocopies issued by the Illinois “SOS” Secretary of State Corporations Division.
